The basilica of Saint Servatius and the Main Guard at the Vrijthof in Maastricht are beautifully illuminated during the blue hour. Every year the summer concerts of André Rieu take place here at the Vrijthof, in Maastricht, the city where André Rieu was born. Some nice cafés and restaurants at the Vrijthof make it a cozy place. Also the famous preuvenemint with delicious tasting at a high level (for everyone) takes place here.

Old City of Avignon
After entering the Old City of Avignon through the City Gate connected to the Pont du Royaume, which crosses the river Rhone, we arrived here at Place Crillon. It was a beautiful place and a perfect spot to start discovering the old city of Avignon. The Palace of the Popes and the Pont Saint-Bénézet, better known as Pont d’Avignon are only a small walk away that takes just a couple of minutes.
Meteora Sunset
Behind the cliffs of Meteora, the sun is setting. The monasteries are closed again, monks and nuns went back to their life and buses with tourists have lef again. Only hotspots for watching the sunset are still crowded. And some birds are flying back to their nest.
Agkistros Mandraki Beach at Skiathos
This beach, Agkistros Mandraki Beach, is a very beautiful, sandy beach on the island of Skiathos. It is about 1500m from the paved road. There is a bus stop (number 21, “Mandraki) and from there you can walk through the forest. At this beach there is a nice tavern, so everything is available for a nice day at the beach.
Methana – On the Top of the Volcano
This picture was taken from the peak of the volcano near Kameni Chora on Methana, a peninsula connected with the Peloponnese. From this point you have a great view over the island Aegina until Piraeus, the harbour of Athens.
Santorini after Sunset
During the blue hour, Oia is illuminated beautifully and the last daylight is leaving at the horizon. This creates a great mood at Santorini, which only few tourists will see because they all left after the sun had set.
Forum Romanum at Night (Panorama)
The very imposing Forum Romanum in Rome, Italy, during twilight as a panoramic picture. I’ve taken this picture in the year 2010, when the Forum Romanum wasn’t illuminated at night, so most of the light is the last natural light of that day.
Drymona Waterfall
In the northern part of Evia (Eboea), the second largest island of Greece, this beautiful waterfall can be found. It is called after the village Drymona in the neighbourhood and it is set in a very beautiful nature area. A good hiking path makes it easy for visitors to get to this waterfall. At the time of our visit (october), the creek didnt have much water, so the waterfall must be much more impressing at the end of winter, when water levels are much higher.
Sunset at Evia (Euboea)
A beautiful sunset seen from the connecting road between Strofilia and Rovies shortly before arriving in Limni.
